CEEW is working to transform India’s electricity sector to be decarbonized, efficient, and equitable. As part of the Power Markets team, the Research Analyst will support efforts to inform power sector regulations, electricity trading markets, and institutional reforms through rigorous research and policy engagement.
This role includes qualitative and quantitative research, market and regulation tracking, stakeholder engagement, and fieldwork. The ideal candidate is a self-starter passionate about turning research into action.
Conduct timely and detailed analysis of policies, regulations, and market trends.
Co-develop innovative ideas for regulatory and market reforms.
Perform literature reviews on international power market design and regulatory interventions.
Track and critically assess national and state-level energy regulations.
Conduct fieldwork such as interviews and focus group discussions.
Use research insights to inform public policy through written submissions and consultations.
Contribute to research reports, blogs, briefs, and presentations.
Collaborate with teams through regular meetings.
Build and maintain trust-based relationships with government, regulators, civil society, and the private sector.
Attend and assist in stakeholder meetings, record minutes, and conduct follow-ups.
Master’s degree in engineering, economics, law, public policy, energy economics, or a related field
Preferred: Courses or certifications in power law/regulations or market operations
Advantage: Training in power system analytics tools
1–3 years of relevant experience
Candidates with strong research abilities but limited sectoral experience may also be considered
Demonstrated ability to support projects and meet deadlines
Strong quantitative and analytical research skills
Excellent verbal and written communication
Ability to manage, process, and analyze data effectively
Flexible and proactive in managing unforeseen challenges
Collaborative and able to work in interdisciplinary settings
Competitive and commensurate with experience
Benchmarked against top industry standards and peer organizations
