Function Overview – Network & Acquirer Solutions (NAS)

The Network & Acquirer Solutions (NAS) Team acts on behalf of the enterprise to develop and enable products for the American Express Global Network (AEGN). Within NAS, the Network & ATM Settlement Solutions Team is responsible for managing financial settlements, transferring funds, handling contractual fees, and resolving ATM billing discrepancies for 280+ global partners, ensuring $70 billion is settled accurately and on time.

Role Purpose

As part of the Network Settlement Team, you will be responsible for managing critical daily financial settlements between American Express (AXP) and Global Network Services (GNS) partners, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. You will collaborate with Partner Relationship Managers and Strategic Relationship Teams based in the UK.

???? This is a high-impact role requiring financial expertise, operational efficiency, and a strong focus on compliance.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Settlement & Process Management

  • Process high-value partner payments using Network Force and Straight to Bank (S2B) platforms.
  • Conduct accounting & reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Manage critical financial settlements between Amex and GNS partners.
  • Address customer queries and ensure resolution within service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Maintain 100% control & compliance matrix for Network & ATM Settlements.

Process Improvements & Risk Management

  • Drive process transformation & operational excellence, continuously identifying efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to SOX testing, internal audits, and regulatory requirements with zero observations.
  • Support Business Continuity Planning (BCP), including participation in table-top exercises.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with Controllership, GFO, and Audit teams to ensure compliance and process efficiency.
  • Provide constructive feedback, mentorship, and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Independently manage cross-functional queries and stakeholder relationships.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Utilize MS Office, S2B portal, Trecs, AutoRek, and Axiom to generate dashboards and process flows.
  • Analyze financial data, identify root causes of discrepancies, and drive corrective actions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial transactions.

Critical Success Factors

???? Essential Skills & Experience:
Strong understanding of financial settlements and accounting principles.
Experience in payment processing, financial operations, or banking industry (Card industry knowledge preferred).
Analytical mindset with the ability to identify root causes and solve problems efficiently.
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and financial systems like S2B, AutoRek, Axiom.
Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Team-oriented with a proactive approach to collaboration and stakeholder management.
